Art has the power to render sorrow beautiful, make loneliness a shared experience, and transform despair into hope

“You might be one of those people who has become possessed by negative thought patterns, and that’s called being cursed” –Duncan Trussell

It’s time to break the curse!

When I heard Duncan phrase generational trauma this way, it hit me hard. Sometimes we need to hear things phrased a little differently, or in the right moment for it to ‘click’.

So much of the unconscious mind can drive external behaviour, who we think we are, how we relate to others, what we ultimately value all affect the way we interact in the world.

It’s actually really fucking hard to become fully aware of all of our ingrained fears and negative thought patterns and how they’re affecting us.

Through yoga, exercise, mindfulness meditation (and the occasional bouts of obsessive thought and rumination) I take a lot of inspiration for my art from just observing my own thoughts and experiences.

It’s through the emotional and spiritual practice of making art that I try to process and exorcise the things that hold me back.

My Goals

Ultimately, my goal is to make really powerful art, to cultivate a stronger connection to myself, and through my art I hope to heal myself and others.
